The Olympic Games in Sochi will be holding events in 15 disciplines within 7 winter sports:

2) Bobsleigh

3) Curling

4) Ice Hockey

5) Luge

6) Skating

-Figure Skating (including individual men and women’s, pairs and ice dancing)
-Short Track Speed Skating
-Speed Skating

7) Skiing

-Cross Country
-Nordic Combined
-Ski Jumping

Did you know? Figure skating is the oldest discipline in the Winter Olympics. You can read about the history of figure skating in Russia here.

The Olympic figure skating events will be held in Sochi’s Iceberg Skating Palace, which is not only a world-class modern athletic facility, but also a beautiful work of art with its smooth, curving lines that are modeled off of the trajectory of a figure skater performing a triple axel! The 12,000-seat venue was home to the ISU Figure Skating Grand Prix Final in December 2012 and competitors and fans at the event praised the new facility!
