A Breakdown of US World Championship Team

The ISU World Figure Skating Championships 2023 will feature figure skaters and teams selected by U.S. Figure Skating. The selection process took place after the 2023 Toyota U.S. Figure Skating Championships were held in San Jose, California.

2023 World Championships – Women’s Figure Skating

The 2023 World Championships will feature female figure skaters Isabeau Levito, Bradie Tennell, and Amber Glenn. 

Starr Andrews will serve as Alternate 1, Lindsay Thorngren as Alternate 2, and Ava Ziegler was named Alternate 3 for the World Championships. 

  • Isabeau Levito is a talented figure skater with a string of impressive accomplishments, including 2022 World Junior champion, 2022 Grand Prix Final silver medalist, and a U.S. bronze medalist from 2022. 
  • Bradie Tennell is a highly accomplished figure skater with a number of significant achievements. She is an Olympic Team Event bronze medalist from 2018, an Olympian from 2018, and a Four Continents bronze medalist from 2020. She has also won several U.S. Championships, including in 2021 and 2018, and has been a U.S. silver medalist in 2019 and a U.S. bronze medalist in 2020..
  • Amber Glenn is a talented figure skater with a number of notable accomplishments. She is a U.S. silver medalist from 2021 and a U.S. junior champion from 2014. 

2023 World Championships – Men’s Figure Skating

The 2023 World Championships for men’s figure skating will feature skaters Ilia Malinin, Jason Brown, and Andrew Torgashev, pending a minimum technical score for Torgashev. 

The alternates for this competition are Camden Pulkinen as Alternate 1, Maxim Naumov as Alternate 2, and Jimmy Ma as Alternate 3. 

  • Ilia Malinin is an accomplished figure skater, with several notable achievements in his career. He is a World Junior champion from 2022 and a Grand Prix Final bronze medalist from 2022. 
  • Jason Brown is a highly accomplished and versatile figure skater, with a long list of significant achievements. He is an Olympic Team Event bronze medalist from 2014 and an Olympian from 2014 and 2022. 
  • Andrew Torgashev is a talented figure skater with a number of noteworthy accomplishments in his career. He is a U.S. junior champion from 2015 and a U.S. novice pewter medalist from 2014. 

2023 U.S. World Junior Team (men and women) 

The 2023 U.S. World Junior Team for both men and women will be announced following the conclusion of the World Junior Singles Camp, which will take place on February 2-3 in Las Vegas.

2023 World Championships – Ice Dance and Pairs

The selections for ice dance and pairs to represent the U.S. at the 2023 ISU World Figure Skating Championships and the 2023 ISU World Junior Figure Skating Championships have been announced by U.S. Figure Skating. 

These teams were determined after the 2023 Toyota U.S. Figure Skating Championships held in San Jose, California.

2023 World Championships – Ice Dance

U.S. Figure Skating has selected Madison Chock and Evan Bates, Kaitlin Hawayek and Jean-Luc Baker, and Caroline Green and Michael Parsons to represent the country at the 2023 World Championships. 

The alternates for this competition are Christina Carreira and Anthony Ponomarenko as Alternate 1, Emilea Zingas and Vadym Kolesnik as Alternate 2, and Emily Bratti and Ian Somerville as Alternate 3.

  • Madison Chock and Evan Bates are accomplished ice dancers with a long list of career achievements. They won Olympic Team Event silver medals in 2022 and have also been Olympians in 2022, 2018, and 2014. They were World silver medalists in 2015 and World bronze medalists in 2022 and 2016. Madison and Evan have also won Four Continents championships in 2020 and 2019, and Four Continents silver medals in 2016 and 2015.
  • Kaitlin Hawayek and Jean-Luc Baker are accomplished ice dancers who have achieved many accolades in their careers. They are Olympians from 2022 and are also World Junior champions from 2014. They won Four Continents championships in 2018 and are Junior Grand Prix silver medalists from 2013. Kaitlin and Jean-Luc have been U.S. bronze medalists in 2022, 2021, 2020, and 2019. 
  • Caroline Green and Michael Parsons are successful ice dancers who have achieved several accomplishments in their careers. They won Four Continents championships in 2022 and have been U.S. pewter medalists in 2022 and 2021. Caroline and Michael have won 1 Grand Prix Series medal.

2023 World Junior Championships – Ice Dance

The 2023 World Junior Championships will feature ice dance teams Leah Neset and Artem Markelov, Helena Carhart and Volodymyr Horovyi, Jenna Hauer and Benjamin Starr. 

The alternates for this competition are Vanessa Pham and Jonathan Rogers as Alternate 1, Elliana Peal and Ethan Peal as Alternate 2, and Kristina Bland and Matthew Sperry as Alternate 3.

2023 World Championships – Pairs

U.S. Figure Skating has selected Alexa Knierim and Brandon Frazier, Emily Chan and Spencer Howe, and Ellie Kam and Danny O’Shea to represent the country at the 2023 World Championships. 

  • Alexa Knierim and Brandon Frazier are accomplished pairs skaters who have achieved several successes in their careers. They won Olympic Team Event silver medals in 2022 and are also Olympians from 2022. Alexa and Brandon are World champions from 2022 and are Grand Prix Final silver medalists from 2022.
  • Emily Chan and Spencer Howe are successful pairs skaters who have achieved several accomplishments in their careers. They are Four Continents silver medalists from 2022 and U.S. pewter medalists from 2022. Emily and Spencer have won 2 Grand Prix Series medals.
  • Ellie Kam and Danny O’Shea are pairs skaters who have achieved their personal bests in international competition using the International Judging System (IJS). Their best scores include a short program score of 65.35 at the 2022 IceChallenge, a free skate score of 117.84 at the same competition, and a final score of 183.19 also at the 2022 IceChallenge.

The alternates for this competition are Anastasiia Smirnova and Danil Siianytsia as Alternate 1, Valentina Plazas and Maximiliano Fernandez as Alternate 2, and Katie McBeath and Nathan Bartholomay as Alternate 3.

2023 World Junior Championships – Pairs

The 2023 World Junior Championships will feature pairs teams Sonia Baram and Daniel Tioumentsev, and Naomi Williams and Lachlan Lewer. Lilianna Murray and Jordan Gillette will serve as Alternate 1.
