Riedell Wins Frank J. Zamboni Award

Written By: Riedell | May 29, 2014

Summer! Yes, it’s that time of year again. Like most sports, the “off-season” for skating doesn’t really mean time off. Skaters are back on the ice training and all of us at Riedell are busy working with coaches and dealers to educate them about our new product line. We’re also attending a number of events around the country, which brought us to Chicago for the Ice Skating Institute (ISI) 2014 Conference & Trade Show.

Earlier this week ISI hosted its Annual Awards Luncheon, where Doug Peters from the Zamboni Company presented Dan Riegelman, our Vice President, with the Frank J. Zamboni award. This prestigious honor recognizes those who have made significant and lasting contributions in engineering and/or technical advancement in the sport of ice skating or the operation of ice skating facilities.

This award means even more coming from Frank Zamboni, who is renowned for his popular ice resurfacing machine, which bears his name. Frank’s personal desire to develop the best possible product for his customers remains as strong in his successors more than 60 years later. This dedication is an inspiration to all. Learn more about Frank from The Zamboni Story here.

All of us at Riedell are thrilled and humbled to receive this award. It reflects the hard work and dedication to skating from each and every one of our employees, who all believe in doing whatever it takes to support our skaters. We truly love the sport of figure skating—and we are honored to work with many of its finest people around the country.
