The Battle is On: NHL Riedell Skaters Step Up for Ice Dance Competition

Written By: Riedell | August 27, 2009

Tune into the upcoming CBC television show Battle of the Blades as former hockey players lace up Riedell figure skates to experience the world of ice dancing. See NHL greats transform their skating from slap shots and hat tricks to spins and twizzles.

The hockey contestants will be paired with a professional skating partner who will help teach them the steps of intricate skating routines. Over the course of seven weeks the ice dancers will compete for a $100,000 grand prize benefiting the charity of their choice. Eliminated couples will receive $25,000 to donate. Partners perform in front of a live studio audience and are voted off based on judges’ scores and votes from viewers at home.

Four-time World Figure Skating Champion and Riedell skater Kurt Browning will host the competition along with Ron McLean, which airs on October 4 at 8:00 p.m. on CBC. Click here to follow Battle of the Blades news.
